2022 in review

The past year has been absolutely incredible. I've learned so much and am excited to keep learning in the new year. Let's take a moment to look back on everything I've accomplished and grown in this year, because it's truly been a time of personal growth.

2022 in review

My first job

This year was my first full year working at Wheelhouse, and it's been such a great learning experience. I've learned so much about front-end development, working in teams, design, and other practical skills that you don't learn in school. I'm really grateful for all the opportunities and challenges that Wheelhouse has provided me with this year.

As a consultant, I’ve also had the opportunity to work with different clients this year, and it's been really interesting to see how different teams approach tasks and function. Both of these clients were very different from each other, and I've learned a lot from working with them. It's been a really valuable experience.

Self-employed 🚀🚀🚀🚀

In April of this year, I decided to take the leap and start my own design and development business on the side of my full-time job. I was really nervous and it started off slow, but since then I've already worked on some great projects. It's been a really exciting and rewarding experience and I’m just beginning. 🚀🚀

In the end, it was definitely worth it because I've learned so much about bookkeeping, creating invoices, and maintaining client relationships. These are all really important skills for any small business owner.

My 2022 favourite stack

This year, I've tried out a lot of different frameworks and tools, and I've finally found my go-to stack for building things quickly and efficiently. I'm all about building and shipping as fast as possible, so I try to keep my stack as basic and minimal as possible.

Right now, I'm using Next.js for my projects, TailwindCSS for styling, and the No-Sweat Eslint setup from WesBos to keep my code clean. For my database, I'm using supabase, which also handles authentication and storage. I always keep my code on Github, and I use Netlify for hosting. I'm really happy with this setup, and it's been working really well for me.

The future is bright

I have big ambitions for the new year. I want to take on more projects and create more beautiful websites, with the goal of making the web an even more pleasant place to be. I've also been trying to create more content for my blog, so I will continue to write and share my thoughts on a regular basis. My goal is to keep learning and growing as a developer and to make a meaningful contribution.

Happy New Year! 🥳
